Zoram Medical College Central Library is located on the Second and third floor of the Old Administrative Building with ample space for reading. Central Library, ZMC is housed in an area of 1600 sq.m and started functioning on 7th August 2018 with the establishment of Zoram Medical College. It is well equipped with the latest medical Textbooks and Journals. Other facilities such as 25 sets of computers with internet access, fully air conditions, free wifi, security surveillance cameras (CCTV), automated with the most advance Library software i.e. Libsys-7 backed by the latest Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology. It is the first library in Mizoram to introduce a Bio-Metric Thumb impression for Issuing and return of Books.
The Library House Keeping operation is run by Qualified Professional in the field of Library and Information Science. The Library introduces services like Reference Service, Newspaper Clipping Service, Current Awareness Services, Selective Dissemination of Information, Bound volume service, Reprographic Service, and Question Banks.
Library Orientation is conducted every year for newly admitted students and faculties so that users are aware of information literacy competencies and able to utilize the resources in the most meaningful way. A section of the library is dedicated to the periodical section and E-Library. The periodical section is enriched with print medical journals, magazines, and newspapers. The E-Library has access to leading e-medical textbooks and e-journals both national and international.
The library caters the need of information of all the subjects. It is equipped with the latest technology. It is only five years old but in the future it is in a good position to become the best and most advanced library in Mizoram. The library facilities are heavily used by the students, research scholars, faculty members and visiting faculty members. Moreover scholars from other organizations also use the library facilities. The Central Library acts as a crucial resources and learning centre of the College to meet the information needs of its clientele for the growth and overall development of the College. The collection and dissemination of data and information and the creation and sharing of knowledge are the success of the Central Library in the present era of learning.
