ZMC aims to achieve medical excellence through quality education and research. The utmost importance will be given to produce peerless medical graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills to be the leaders in health care. It aspires to cater affordable and quality patient care to the people of Mizoram, the surrounding states and the neighboring countries.

 

MISSION

· To provide comprehensive service in all the medical specialties and to serve as a referral health Centre for preventive, diagnostic, curative and rehabilitative care.

· To provide undergraduates with the best theoretical teaching, clinical exposure and training.

· To conduct research in various medical fields giving special importance to the needs of the state.

· To assist the Government of Mizoram in carrying out all responsibilities in matters of health care as required at the national or state level.

 

SERVICES

Patient Care Services are available through Out Patient Departments (OPD) and In-patitent services (IPD) by the various departments in the Hospital.

 

OPD Registration

Visitors are allowed only at notified visiting hours as follows:

Weekdays :

9:00 am - 1:00 pm.

Saturdays : 

9:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Other services are also available through Intensive Care Units (ICU), Operation Theatres (OT) Laboratories and other diagnostic departments.

 

Emergency Services available 24 x 7:

Emergency Unit is located in the Ground Floor around 200 meters straight from the Main-gate of the Institute.

Emergency OT, ICU, Laboratory and Diagnostic Facilities.

SERVICES PROVIDED IN BIOCHEMISTRY: Routine Biochemistry test (Blood Sugar, LFT,KFT, Lipid profile, Electrolytes and microalbumin)

 

DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY:

There are 7 laboratories in the department of Microbiology. The following tests are done accordingly.

1.         Bacteriology Laboratory:

Bacterial cultures. Antibiotic sensitivity testing. Gram staining. AFB staining.

2.         Immunology Laboratory:

Mantoux test. ELISA- for Hep B Hep C and Scrub Typhus from April 2019

 3.        Mycology Laboratory:

Fungal cultures. KOH Mount. Fungal stainings.

4.         Serology   Laboratory:

Routine Serology test

Tests:-  CRP, ASO, RF, Heaptitis B, Hepatitis C, Widal Test, Typhidot, H pylori, Scrub typhus- RDT and Weil Felix test, Malaria RDT .

5.         Virology  Laboratory:

HIV testing and RPR for STDs

6.         Parasitology Laboratory:

Routine Stool examination 

7.         Mycobacteriology Laboratory

AFB done in RNTCP

CBNAAT done in RNTCP

MGIT cultures – from April 2019

DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY:

There are 4 sections in department of Pathology. The tests done in each section are:

  1. Haematology:
    1. Complete haemogram
    2. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
    3. Peripheral smear examination
    4. Blood grouping and typing
    5. Coagulation profile studies
    6. Bone marrow examination
    7. Blood for malaria parasite
  2. Histopathology: All types of biopsy
  3. Cytopathology:
    1. Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology
    2. PAP smear
    3. Fluid cytology
  4. Clinical pathology:
    1. Urine examination
    2. Body fluid examination
    3. Semen analysis 

 

 

Visiting Hours

Visitors are allowed only at notified visiting hours as follows:

Weekdays and Saturdays:

Morning: 6:00 am - 9:00 am.

Afternoon: 12:00 noon - 1:00 pm.

Evening: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Sundays and Holidays:

Morning: 6:00 am - 10:00 am.

Afternoon: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

 

Public Facilities

The following facilities are available in the campus:

The Hospital Pharmacy is located in the OPD area near the Registration counter. It provides drugs prescribed by the Institute Doctors at nominal price.

Canteen is located near the hospital building.

ATM is located in the Ground floor in front of the Medical Superintendent’s Office.

Adequate Toilet facilities are available in all the floors.

Facilities like wheel chair, stretches, patients trolley available in the Emergency Unit.

Other Information:

Directional sign boards are located at each floor for convenience of patients

All OPD patients are registered and issued an OPD card for consultation.

RSBY/PMJAY unit is located in the 1st floor of hospital building for free treatment.

Physiotherapy services are provided in the basement of OPD complex.

Suggestion / Complaint Box are provided.
