On 21st July 2005, the hospital had a humble beginning when it officially started functioning as a 50-bedded hospital in the Administrative Building as the State Referral Hospital, Falkawn (Aizawl West District Hospital). Staff strength was 20 (3 Doctors, 5 Nurses, 1 Lab Tech., 1 Pharmacist, 8 Group D and 2 Drivers). On 10th December 2012, 150 beds was officially commissioned with 3 full time Departments i.e., Obs. & Gynae, Surgery and Dental Surgery. The Hospital is also the attached Hospital for the Zoram Medical College.
The hospital started its journey on NQAS in 2022 under IPA, Mizoram Health System Strengthening Project (MHSSP), Govt. of Mizoram. With a baseline NQAS score of 63% in April, 2022 we can achieved the State certification in March, 2024 with a score of 83%.
The hospital also faced its NQAS national Assessment in the month of March 21st and 22nd 2025.
The facility also started its Kayakalp program in the year 2023. In the recently conducted Kayakalp Award ceremony we won the Commendation Award for 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 along with the Health Minister Special Award 2024-2025.
